As a vocalist, Eleanor Smith studies with Frances Cooper, and recently participated in a workshop with The Sixteen. She has sung in choirs since the age of six, and currently is a member of the Edinburgh University Singers, the Robin Chapel choir, and the choir of Old St Paul’s (see details below). 

In the 2010 Fringe festival, she sang the role of Bessie/Liesgen in Hugh MacDonald’s fantastic translation of the Coffee Cantata by J.S. Bach, as part of the Hot Chocolate concerts at Old St Paul’s.

Recently, she performed a short recital with Edinburgh-based guitarist and lutenist Gordon Ferries for the AGM of the Friends of St Cecilia’s, and will be collaborating with him again in February in a recital for the supporters of the Georgian Concert Society.

The Edinburgh University Singers

The Edinburgh University singers, directed by Dr John Kitchen provide music for University graduation ceremonies, as well as a number of concerts throughout the University year.

High Mass at 10.30, and Evensong and Benediction at 6.30pm.
